The Air Engineering and Logistics Department of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (AELD, RSAF) and the Singapore Institute of Aerospace Engineers (SIAE) warmly welcome you to the Singapore Aerospace Technology and Engineering Conference (SATEC) 2024. This year, we are honoured to have the Senior Minister of State for Defence, SMS Heng Chee How, as our Guest of Honour.

In line with this year’s theme “Thinking of the New Era of Aerospace Technologies", we will discuss how we can harness emerging technologies to address evolving defence and aerospace challenges through two distinguished guest panels and a series of thematic speakers.

Our first distinguished guest panel, “Air Dominance Tomorrow”, will explore the future of air combat in the next 30 years. We are honoured to have a wide range of distinguished representatives across the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) programme, the Next Generation Air Dominance Programme (NGAD), and the Global Combat Aircraft Programme (GCAP) to share their views on the future of air combat. Joining us on this panel are Mr Timothy Sakulich, Executive Director, US Air Force Research Laboratory Air Force Material Command, Mr Greg M Ulmer, Executive Vice President of Aeronautics, Lockheed Martin, Dr Michael Schoellhorn, CEO Airbus Defence and Space, and Mr Jonathan Moreton, Future Combat Air Systems Export Partners Director and Military Advisor, BAE Systems. Moderating this panel is Mr Ang Jer Meng, Director Air Systems, Defence Science and Technology Agency, who has a wealth of experience in the defence aerospace industry.

Our second distinguished guest panel, “Environmentally Sustainable Aerospace”, will explore how aviation can transform to become environmentally sustainable in the future. We are excited to have brought together industry leaders that sustain the full spectrum of aviation services which include development, production, ground handling and airborne services. Joining us on this panel are Mr Koh Ming Sue, Executive Vice President, Engineering & Development, Changi Airport Group, Dr Cyrille Schwob, Head of Research and Technology Development APAC, Airbus Singapore, Mr Robert Boyd, Regional lead for Global Sustainability Policy & Partnerships, Boeing, and Mr Han Wei Min, General Manager Shanghai Technologies Aerospace Company (STARCO). Moderating this panel is Ms Cheryl Chan, Group Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer, Singapore Technologies Engineering, who has a wealth of experience in shaping industry sustainability trends.

Lining up the distinguished guest speakers, we are also pleased to have ME7(NS) Hoo Soo Pin, Director Digital & Corporate Transformation and MINDEF Chief Information Officer, Ms Kerissa Khan, President of the Royal Aeronautical Society, UK, RADM (Retired) Philip Kenul, Senior Vice President, Aviation and Operations, TriVector Services/Chair of ASTM Committee F38 on Unmanned Aircraft Systems, ASTM International, and Mr Laurence S.S Wildgoose, Assistant Administrator, Policy, International Affairs & Environment. They will share on how regulatory frameworks play an important role to ensure safety amidst innovations in the aviation industry.

We have also lined up more than 30 speakers from government, industry and academia to share their recent work in our technical breakout sessions in the afternoon. The presentations span a wide range of topics including The Future of Maintenance, Unmanned Technologies and Advanced Aerospace Technologies. We hope the presentations and discussions will spur continuous research and development in aerospace engineering.

Our appreciation goes out to all our sponsors, partners and participants who have contributed to the success of this conference. We are confident that SATEC 2024 will be an enjoyable, engaging and fulfilling experience for you.

Yours Sincerely,
